UE5: Ancient Temple Scene & Green Screen

This semester, a short scene was planned that included green screen elements and needed to be rendered in real-time. The Unreal Engine 5 was utilized, which is well suited for real-time production. The green screen room at university was covered in trackers, allowing for filming of the scene before putting the animated camera in 3D space.

After filming, the camera was tracked with NukeX. The Unreal Engine scene was then adjusted to create the most realistic rendering possible. Fire effects were saved as VDBs with Embergen, imported into Autodesk Maya, and rendered before the image sequence was prepared for post-processing in NukeX. Challenges arose due to clothing, skin, and the katana reflecting the green screen, but this was mostly resolved with rotoscoping and various keyers. I hope you like the scene!
